Last week it was revealed that if Paris Saint-Germain wanted to sign Brazil defender Dani Alves then the transfer would need to be arranged by the Sunday just passed and it seems the French club have gone quiet on the move.

Marca reported that the Barcelona full-back would be leaving the Camp Nou this summer but his destination will not now be PSG and it seems unlikely that’ll he depart after all.

Football Espana report that the Paris club are put off by the expenses and Alves’ age, they are now allegedly switching their attention to AC Milan’s Ignacio Abate.

The 31-year-old has a contract with Barcelona until next summer but was expected to depart after the World Cup.

It now seems he’ll remain with the Catalan club and compete with Colombia international Juan Cuarado, who is expected to move from Fiorentina after the conclusion of his World Cup.

Alves wanted his future sorted before Brazil progressed to the knock-out phase and it now seems like he’ll be a Barcelona player next season.
