The Chilean Football Federation has been fined by FIFA after the debacle at the Maracana stadium which saw some fans manage to break into the media centre before their game with Spain last week.

Details of the sanctions were not disclosed by the ANFP, who did hint that any further trouble would result in more serious ramifications.

A statement on Chile’s FA site read: “Yesterday (Monday) we got notice from FIFA’s disciplinary commission that the Federation was being sanctioned with a fine for the incidents carried out by Chilean fans who pushed down a perimeter fence outside the Maracana and alllowed about 200 supporters to rush into the media centre.”

Chile face the World Cup hosts Brazil in Belo Horizonte on Saturday afternoon in an eagerly anticipated seconf round clash.
