The assistant coach of Brazil believes that the national team can still perform close to its best at this summer’s tournament.

Pundits and spectators have been underwhelmed by Brazil in their first two group games. But Carlos Alberto Parreira told Esporte Espetacular that the hosts can improve as they progress.

Parreira said: “The important thing is that the Seleção grows throughout the competition. It might not get to 100% and it is going to diminish. It’s important to start with 50%, 60% and reach 80%, 90%, 100% in the competition.

“I’m absolutely sure that the team as a whole, technically, tactically, physically, will grow during the competition.”
