Luiz Felipe Scolari’s number two, Carlos Alberto Parreira, has given his backing to Fred in reaction to recent criticism of the Brazil striker.
Parreira told Esporte Espetacular that the Fluminense forward still ‘has the confidence of Felipão and all the players.’
He said: “Fred is our goal man. He is aware that not just him but the whole team has not reproduced the good performances of the Confederations Cup. Certainly, the attitude of the team as a whole will improve. And we expect Fred will also improve his concentration and the goals will return.
“He is the man who has the confidence of Felipão and all the players. He knows it’s important for the team. Then it is essential that he and the team grow and start having that level of performance that thrilled everyone in the Confederations Cup.”
