Barcelona right back Daniel Alves has welcomed rumours that his club are to mount a bid for Fiorentina and Colombia player Juan Cuadrado, insisting that the better the squad, the more chance the Catalans have of putting together a good season ahead.

Cuadrado has impressed for his club in recent times and has brought his good form with him to the World Cup as the South Americans look to go deep in the tournament.

And Alves, who has himself been linked with a move away from Barca, told Marca: “If they can recruit him, then I encourage them to do it."

“It [the interest] doesn"t bother me. On the contrary, he is an excellent player, young, has had excellent performances with his club and the Colombian side."

“You see that your club seeks quality to be able to compete. For me it"s a motivation."

Both players are most at home roaming down the right flank and new Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has already suggested that changes are afoot at the Camp Nou.
