Brazil legend Cafu praises Jon Flanagan and believes he can become a great full-back
Young Liverpool full-back Jon Flanagan made quite a name for himself last season and even earned high praise from Brazil legend Cafu.
After learning about the performances of young Flanagan on twitter, fellow Brazilian Lucas Leiva invited the 44-year-old to Anfield to watch the English full-back in action.
It is safe to say Cafu was impressed with what he saw and believes the youngster has a great future in the game.
Liverpool.com quoted the Brazilian legend, he said: "Lucas Leiva invited me to see Liverpool play and I was able to see Flanagan on the pitch.
“I was told that his style of play is reminiscent of my own, and he could be the next Cafu.
"He has a great future, he's a good player and plays for the English team.
“He's very strong, has a lot of will power, he has skills and this power plus his quickness may lead him to becoming a great full back - similar to the player I was."
Exceptional high praise from somebody that has lifted the World Cup and Flanagan is sure to have learnt a lot from Cafu.
The pair spent time chatting and discussing football during Cafu’s visits and it seems Liverpool will have an extra fan for next season.
