Brazil defender David Luiz insists the hosts continue to believe in their philosophy and are sure they can win the World Cup.

The opening two matches didn’t go to plan for Luiz Felipe Scolari’s team but the Paris Saint-Germain defender feels those experiences will help Brazil.

He also pondered the surprising nature of the World Cup with shock results continuing to come from nowhere.

Luiz told Globo Esporte: “Who has no ambition not get anywhere. We players dream of a moment like this. We continue to believe in our philosophy, our ambition.

“We are a humble team that likes to learn. When comparing the Confederations Cup with the World Cup, the level is too large, the world champion out in the first phase.

“You see teams that we did not give much importance to pattern match. Australia wins almost the Netherlands, who thrashed Spain.”

The PSG ace also discussed how Brazil will continue to evolve as the tournament progresses.

He said: “We know we can evolve, grow, and know what you are facing.

“We have to suffer, understand the game so great that we did against Mexico, which was also perfect in the game.

“We faced a team that, if it makes the same game going forward, is going to get very far.”
