Spanish newspaper Marca has hinted that Brazilian defender Miranda will not be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer to join either Barcelona or Manchester United, and that the 29 year-old is happy to stay at the Vicente Calderon for the time being.

Last season’s La Liga champions have feared a mass exodus after an impressive campaign in which they also reached the final of the Champions League, losing to great rivals Real in Lisbon in May.

But Marca have reported that the former Sao Paulo centre back will stay. He said of a contract extension last year: “I am very happy, I was working hard towards this renewal and I think it’s a good agreement.”

“Atletico to me, feel great, like I was in my house. Madrid is a city that I love. I’m happy here.”

It remains to be seen if Barca or United ramp up their interest in Miranda, with both clubs in the market for defensive restructuring ahead of next season.7
