Júlio César kept his first clean sheet of the 2014 World Cup but surprisingly Brazil were unable to break down Mexico and Guillermo Ochoa yesterday.

The Mexican keeper was in impressive form and made four key saves to ensure the hosts were held to a 0-0 draw in their second match of Group A.

After the game, the Queens Park Rangers goalie praised his opposite number Ochoa and congratulated both teams on a great game.

Sky Sports quoted Júlio César, he said: “We knew it would be a tough game, it always is against Mexico, we didn’t play our best game.

“Ochoa made great saves, it was an open game. Congratulations to both teams, they played a great game.”

Coming into the tournament questions were being asked of the QPR goalkeeper but the Brazil number one performed solidly yesterday to show his quality.

Júlio César will now hope to continue that form in the rest of the tournament and help Brazil start showing why they were classed as pre-tournament favourites.
