Brazil captain Thiago Silva believes the 2014 World Cup will not be one fondly remembered by defenders, but that fans will enjoy the amount of goals scored.

In 14 matches, 39 goals have been scored and only one 0-0 has occurred, yesterday between Iran and Nigeria.

The Paris Saint-Germain skipper believes this World Cup has all the makings of one of the best World Cups ever.

The Daily Telegraph quoted Silva, he said: “I was talking to friends that this is the World Cup of all World Cups for those who like goals scored.

“For those who like football, I think this is the World Cup. This is being shown in terms of number of goals. For a defender that’s not all good but I believe its just part of football.”

Although Silva feels for defenders, he does admit the goals are good for football fans. Despite this, he’ll be hoping to keep a clean sheet for Brazil against Mexico tonight.
