New Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz has expressed his delight at joining the Ligue 1 club, a transfer that was only officially completed recently.
The former Chelsea favourite had all but confirmed his move to PSG prior to the World Cup but it wasn’t until after he had featured in Brazil’s 3-1 World Cup win over Croatia, that the switch was announced.
Sky Sports quoted Luiz, who will become the most expensive defender in football history, and he said: “Right from the very first contact I had with Paris St Germain I was very happy.
“It’s a big club with a great history, a new step in my life, and I’m impatient to play and show what I can do.”
The Brazilian went on to add that he is looking to win as much as possible at PSG after enjoying vast amounts of success with Premier League side Chelsea.
David Luiz said: “I will be defending the colours of one of the biggest clubs in the world. It will be a great time for me, both professionally and personally. I want to enjoy myself and, if possible, win as much as possible.”
