Luiz Felipe Scolari praised Chelsea’s Oscar after the 22-year-old put on a stunning display to help Brazil achieve an opening game win against Croatia.

The host nation were a goal down but the former Internacional midfielder helped inspire them to a 3-1 World Cup win by playing a part in the first two goals and scoring the third.

The Brazil head coach was quoted by Sky Sports after the game and praised the performance of Oscar.

Scolari said: “He is this player we all know, I had no doubts. He is wonderful, excellent.”

Despite the 3-1 victory, Scolari wasn’t happy with everything he saw although he wouldn’t reveal to the press who he was disappointed with.

The Brazil boss also insisted that he believes Croatia will progress from Group A after their impressive performance at Arena Corinthians.

Scolari added: “If I could bet who will advance in this group, I would bet on Croatia.”

Before the 65-year-old concluded by saying: “I’ll tell the players first what I didn’t like, not you.”
