Brazil hero Neymar thankful for Croatia keeper Stipe Pletikosa’s ‘weak hand’
Neymar scored twice to help inspire Brazil to an opening game win against Croatia as the host nation started the 2014 World Cup with a 3-1 victory.
The Barcelona ace has expressed his gratitude afterwards that Croatia keeper Stipe Pletikosa had a weak hand.
The 22-year-old scored his and Brazil’s second from the penalty spot but his effort was weak, fortunately though the former Tottenham Hotspur keeper was unable to keep out Neymar’s effort.
AS quoted the former Santos star after the match and on the penalty, Neymar said: “I wanted to go left, but it was hard. His hands were quite weak and luckily it went in.”
The Barcelona attack also conceded that it was important Brazil kept their cool and didn’t panic despite finding themselves behind after just 11 minutes when Real Madrid’s Marcelo put through his own net.
Neymar concluded: “We have to play naturally and not think about things to much. If you worry, things are worst, we just have to play our game.”
