Two-time World Cup winner Cafu, one of the most celebrated players in Brazil’s history, has singled out Germany as the team he believes will pose the biggest threat to his own country’s bid to win a sixth title this summer.

The former AS Roma and AC Milan right back, who won an unprecedented 145 caps for Brazil, told German publication Kicker: “Germany has a strong team, which performed well in recent times. Along with Brazil they are amongst the favourites.”

“Who impresses me most is Bastian Schweinsteiger. He is a complete player, which has greatly helped his team, Bayern.”

On fellow right back Philipp Lahm, Cafu added: “It is really fantastic. He is so good on the right and on the left. He is a player that every coach would like on his team.”

Germany get their World Cup bid underway in a mouth-watering clash on Monday against Portugal in Salvador (1700GMT).
