Croatia's Luka Modric laments Brazil defeatModric and his team went down to a Neymar-inspired Brazil -
Croatia midfielder Luka Modric has bemoaned the lack of luck experienced by his team after they crashed to a somewhat unfair 3-1 defeat to hosts Brazil in the opening game of the World Cup.
The Real Madrid playmaker, 28, told reporters after the match: "It's not fair to lose like that. I did not think it was a penalty, but now the game is over."
"We can do nothing more. We played a very good match."
Nico Kovac's men were superb throughout, managing to limit the Brazilians to long range efforts for long periods of play, but succombed in the end after a foul was given in the box on the otherwise anonymous Fred; Chelsea attacker Oscar wrapped up the three points towards the end of 90 minutes.
The Croatians must lick their wounds and prepare to play Cameroon in the heat and humidity of Manaus on Wednesday evening.
