Spain playmaker David Silva has praised forwards Diego Costa and Fernando Torres.

The 28 year-old, who has been capped 80 times at international level, believes Brazilian-born Costa and Chelsea’s Torres will both be effective weapons for Spain at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

"It’s easy to play with any of the strikers. They distance themselves well from the defenders," he said, as reported by Football Espana.

"Diego Costa is very fast and makes it really easy. I was very surprised by [Fernando Torres], how much of a spark he’s had, and I told him so the other day."

The former Valencia midfielder also commented on Manchester City team-mates Jesús Navas and Álvaro Negredo, who missed out on Head Coach Vicente del Bosque’s final 23-man squad.

"It’s a shame because I share the day with them and I know how much they hoped to come." he continued.

"They deserve credit for not giving up, and they say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger."
