Mexico striker Javier Hernandez has praised the welcome that his country have recieved in Brazil ahead of the World Cup and asked them to continue the party when the tournament gets underway this week.

The Mexicans will face the hosts, Croatia and Cameroon in Group A of the competition in what is sure to be a colourful pool, and Manchester United goal-grabber ‘Chicharito’ has perhaps attempted a bit of flirting with the supporters of the Brazilian national side: “I really like and appreciate this support.”

“I ask them to support the entire Mexican national team, because we leave everything on the field.”

“Yes, all these people supporting us was very beautiful. It surprised me. We know that this country is beautiful, hot, and peolpe really like football. I didn’t expect to see so many people, because we arrived late.”

Hernandez might be wishing a little unrealistically for support from the hosts when the two countries meet at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaeza on June 17 in the second round of Group fixtures.
