Real Madrid defender Marcelo has admitted he hardly remembers what happened in the Champions League final and remembers the historic win as a blur.

The Brazilian has been speaking to O Globo, with Football Espana quoting the 26-year-old.

Marcelo said: "I don’t even remember what happened on the pitch. When I scored the goal that virtually secured the trophy a lot of things came to my head.

"It was a difficult year with a lot of knocks. I had to sacrifice a lot on the field. I think that’s why I was staring at nothing after the goal."

The full back went on to praise Spain and Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas and revealed he gave him so much strength before the final.

He added: "Before the game, in the locker room, Iker Casillas called me aside and told me I would be very important for the team. That gave me a lot of strength.

"The guy is an idol of Real Madrid, one of the biggest names in the history of the club.

"So [after the goal] I went and gave him a big hug. Crying was natural, spontaneous."
