Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is hoping to follow in the footsteps of another Brazilian, who played in Manchester, by lifting the World Cup.

Fernandinho started his career at Atlético Paranaense alongside former Man United midfielder Kléberson and has always viewed the former Brazil international as an idol.

Kléberson won the 2002 World Cup and the City ace is now hoping to follow in his footsteps over the next month.

Sky Sports quoted Fernandinho, he said: “I played with Kleberson when I was starting my career, he was the player that inspired me the most, as his life story is very similar.

“We played at Atletico Paranaense and I had the dream of reaching the national team and win everything he won.”

Although Fernandinho will hope to emulate Kléberson by winning the World Cup, he’ll be expecting his club career in Manchester to be a lot more successful.

Kléberson would prove to be a flop for Manchester United during his two seasons with the club and his career has flattered to deceive ever since.
