Rivaldo: Spain and Argentina are Brazil 2014 favouritesRivaldo scored over 30 goals for Brazil
The 2002 World Cup winner does not fancy the host nation’s chances of lifting the trophy this summer.
Speaking to Goal.com, Rivaldo said: "Spain and Argentina are the two strongest teams at the moment. As we know, there are eight world champions who are involved in this tournament, and with all of their experiences, they have all got my respect."
Discussing the teams who could surprise people by winning the World Cup this summer, the former Barcelona forward said: "Portugal potentially could make an upset."
Rivaldo is, however, backing his country to get off to a good start next Thursday.
"I think Brazil will do their best. I know there will be pressure before the first game," he said.
"With all my respect, I’m confident we will play a good game and take a victory over Croatia."
