Former Brazil international Zico believes Argentina’s attacking style could leave them vulnerable defensively.

La Albiceleste Head Coach Alejandro Sabella is expected to field forward’s Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuaín and Sergio Agüero in the same line up.

Zico – a veteran of three FIFA World Cups – is concerned that Sabella’s desire to be offensive may give Argentina’s opposition too much space to counter-attack.

“Argentina’s style means that they are left exposed at the back,” he wrote in his column for The Guardian. “Opponents will be very aware of that. It’s a consequence of how they play: attacking teams take more risks. A lot of people say Argentina do not have a vintage generation of defenders but I don’t think that is the problem.

“Argentina have to find a way to play in a more compact manner and to give opposition players less space.”
