Brazil captain Thiago Silva has called for his country to follow the example of Atlético Madrid if they are to complete their objective of winning the 2014 World Cup.

The Paris Saint-Germain defender feels Atlético’s achievement of reaching the Champions League finals show anything is possible if you build from the back.

That motto will be an example Brazil will aim to follow in the upcoming World Cup.

Inside Spanish Football quoted Silva, he said: “If Atlético Madrid can reach the Champions League final [with this approach], it’s because they didn’t concede goals.

“If we follow this path, we can have success further down the line.

“If we don’t concede goals, the chances of winning 1-0 are very high because of the quality we have in attack.”

Brazil boast a plethora of attacking talent and if Silva and co can keep it tight at the back, you would expect they’ll win more matches than they’ll draw. That combination could be enough to deliver their nation a home World Cup win.
