Brazil striker Fred has told his teammates to channel whatever pressure they may face during the World Cup into a positive energy after they beat Panama 4-0 in a pre-tournament friendly in Goiania last night.

Fluminense’s Fred, who will act as Selecao’s lone front man this summer, told reporters after the game: “This match was an important part of our preparation, and we were feeling the pressure a little.”

“The atmosphere was immense and it was very hot and the other team played very defensive. Panama sat behind the halfway line and this made our life more difficult.”

“We can’t react to this extra pressure being placed on us by the fans because it can be even worse during the games.”

“We already have this pressure, but we need to change this into a positive, we need to distract from the focus and start the matches without pressure, just as we did in the COnfederations Cup.”
