Radamel Falcao has not recovered sufficiently from the anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered playing for Monaco in January.
The Colombian striker had joined up with his country’s provisional squad but was not in the right condition for the tournament.
“I was very excited but now I’ll have to support the team from afar and I wish them well, hoping they play a good World Cup,” Falcao told El Pais.
