Chelsea midfielder Ramires has praised the impact of Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari as the excitement builds ahead of the World Cup.

The 27-year-old was speaking to the official Chelsea website about the World Cup and described the impact Scolari had on the squad when he took charge in November 2012.

Ramires said: “It’s a process like at a club when a coach changes. Personnel, coaches, philosophy all change. After being out for a year I felt a bit nervous, you see the same people there but meet new ones too.

“The team now has a great leader. It’s a strong team with excellent players and on the pitch we all give our best, and don’t want to disappoint the leader.”

The relationship the Brazil players have with Scolari is clear to see and Ramires admits nobody wants to let the coach down.

The former Benfica man also revealed that the coach makes them believe they can achieve anything.

“It’s a very proud team,” Ramires added. “You can see that from the coach down. He passes this on to us and when he tells us we can do it, we can achieve it, we believe it.”
