Former Italy Head Coach Marcello Lippi believes Brazil and Germany are the favourites for next month’s World Cup.

The 66 year-old, who won the tournament with the Azzurri in 2006, expects the hosts to triumph, though is hopeful that Italy can regain the trophy.

“Who will win the World Cup? I think of Brazil, but in my head is also saying Germany,” he said, as reported by Football Italia. “The hope is that Italy triumph, of course.”

Lippi also discussed the heat that Italy will face when playing England in Manaus and likens it to what he has to deal with as Manager of Guanghzou Evergrande.

“In Manaus it is going to be 31 degrees,” he continued. “In China we have it at 37-38 degrees with 90 per cent humidity.

“We train at 6pm every day and stop every 10 minutes to allow the guys to re-hydrate.”
