Report: Chelsea closing in on Atlético Madrid defender Filipe Luís with £20m bid imminent
Atlético Madrid defender Filipe Luís recently insisted he was only focusing on his current club after their Champions League final defeat but Premier League side Chelsea are set to step up their attempts to sign the Brazilian.
Filipe Luís was exceptional last season as Atlético enjoyed one of their most successful campaigns in decades and the form of the Brazilian has caught the eye of Chelsea, with the Blues are ready to make a move for the defender.
The Evening Standard believe Chelsea are preparing a £20 million offer with a salary of £78,000 per week to tempt the 28-year-old to leave Spain.
According to the report, the Brazilian has a £19.5 million buy-out clause and the Blues strong relationship with Atlético could also play a part in thrashing out the deal.
The news will worry Atlético and their supporters as it seems there could be an exodus of talent exiting the club this summer.
Even though Filipe Luís was adamant that his focus was on Atlético, the financial willpower of Chelsea could convice the Brazilian to move and it seems the Blues are confident of securing the 28-year-olds signature.
