Uruguay forward Luis Suárez has been cheekily informing his Liverpool team mates that he will be fit for the World Cup.

Suárez is set to go head to head with a number of club team mates during the World Cup as England are in Uruguay’s group.

However, the 27-year-old forward underwent knee surgery recently but has already warned his Liverpool friends that he will be back for the Group D clash on June 19.

England and Liverpool right back Glen Johnson told the BBC Sport: “I spoke to him in the week and he doesn’t think that it is that bad so he thinks he will be ok.”

Meanwhile Jordan Henderson told the Daily Telegraph that although England players wouldn’t be too disappointed should Suárez miss out, the Liverpool midfielder did wish the Uruguayan luck in his quest to get fit.

Henderson said: “Everybody is obviously disappointed for Luis, people that know him – maybe not us – because he is a big player for Uruguay.

“I gave him a text to see if he is doing all right and wished him good luck with whatever he has got to have done.

“But I am sure, knowing the type of person he is, he is a fighter and I am sure come maybe the first game or the second game in the World Cup, I am sure he will be ready and raring to go.”
