Flamengo boss Ney Franco has welcomed back goalkeeper Felipe into tonight’s squad for their game against Figueirense after the player was disciplined for missing training last week as Mengao attempt to move up the Serie A table from their current 17th position.

The Rio de Janeiro side have endured a poor start to the league campaign after winning the Carioca state championship and failing to get past the group stages of the Copa Libertadores; they have also failed to win in four games and Franco says he has no further problems with his vice-captain.

“We’re talking about a player who has always worked hard,” said Franco, “and in my management, this is the only problem I have had with him. If we have a consistency of indiscipline, we will have to be more severe.”

After tonight’s game, Flamengo travel to Cruzeiro at the weekend before the league breaks up for the World Cup, and Franco’s men will be hoping that three points tonight will push them away from the relegation places.
