Santos have this afternoon sold midfielder Cícero to Fluminense but the transfer fee has remained undisclosed.

Lance reported the news that the 29-year-old would be leaving Peixe after a successful 18 months with the club.

Although Cícero has been a major hit on the pitch for Santos, it has been reported that he wasn’t satisfied with the wages he was receiving. After his request for an increase was turned down, the midfielder asked to be transferred to Fluminense.

The agreement with the Rio de Janeiro club was reached on Wednesday afternoon and the former Hertha BSC Berlin player will be expected to debut soon.

He has previously played for Fluminense, in 2007 and 2008, and was successful winning the Brazilian Cup. He will return to Flu a much better player than he was during his previous spell though.

Cícero has been a crucial player for Santos and has regularly found the net for the club. His departure will be met with great sadness by fans, although with Fluminense challenging for the Brasileirão, it is easy to see why the 29-year-old has chosen this time to move on in his career.
