Recent Spanish league winner Diego Ribas has opted to join Turkish side Fenerbahce following a highly successful loan spell at Spanish league champions Atletico Madrid.
The former Brazil international, who won 33 caps between 2003 and 2008, has acted swiftly after helping Atletico to a first La Liga crown since 1996 and moves to the fifth European club of a nomadic career.
After moving to FC Porto from Santos in 2004, Diego has gone on to represent Juventus, Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen and Atletico.
The 29 year-old’s father and agent Djair confirmed the deal yesterday as a three-year contract was penned in the Spanish capital.
Diego’s highlight during his loan spell last term was a long-range goal against Barcelona in the Champions League, which helped them reach the semi-finals in a tournament that they ended up being a few minutes away from triumphing in.
