Cruzeiro remain top after impressive win at Internacional
Cruzeiro moved clear at the top of Serie A thanks to an important victory at early league pace-setters Internacional last night.
The defending champions, who now have 16 points after the opening seven games, went behind to a Wellington goal, before Ricardo Goulart responded before half time.
And the team from Belo Horizonte grabbed all three points thanks to further strikes from Willian and Bolivian striker Marcelo Moreno; the result keeps Cruzeiro a point ahead of Fluminense and opens up a four point gap to yesterday's opponents.
No team has successfully defended the Campeonato Brasileirao since Sao Paulo won three times in a row from 2006.
Cruzeiro's final two games before the league's recess for the World Cup come away at Corinthians this Thursday and then Flamengo on Sunday afternoon.
