Aguero believes Barcelona talisman Messi can lead Argentina to World Cup glory
Argentina striker Sergio Aguero says his sdie can win the World Cup for a thrid time because they have at their disposal the talents of four-time global player of the year Lionel Messi.
Manchester City's Aguero, 25, has returned to full fitness after a stuttering campaign with the English champions, and told the Times of India: "Yes, why not? We have Lionel Messi, the best footballer on earth, in our side."
"He led us to the top of the list in qualifiers from the most difficult zone with matches to spare. We have an excellent forward line where Lavezzi and I will try to score more and we have wonderful midfielders to support us."
Argentina have a kind draw for the World Cup, lining up in Group F alongside Bosnia, Nigeria and Iran, with a potential second round match against the likes of Switzerland in the offing.
Messi has had a quiet season by his own lofty standards, interrupted by injury as well as a dip in form; there is, however, no doubt that Argentina being second favourites for the tournament is no fluke.
