Watford have released a teaser video of an interview conducted with new signing Heurelho Gomes, where the Brazilian goalkeeper reveals why he joined the club.

The full interview with the 33-year-old is set to be posted soon but for the time being the Championship club have released a 46 second clip of the Brazil international.

Gomes labeled the ambition of Watford’s directors and owners as one of the main reason behind his signing and he has revealed that the club want to be a Premier League club again.

“There was some options but I came to meet the directors and the owners of the club and it is a club that can reach the high level,” Gomes said.

“That is there ambition (to reach the high level) when I spoke to them they said about their ambition.

“Two years ago the club nearly reached the Premier League and we will try this year again and they said they want to make a strong team and that’s why (I joined).”

Watford tasted Premier League football for the last time in the 2006/07 campaign, although they came agonizingly close two years ago as Gomes alluded to.

The Brazilian will hope he can inspire the Hornets into the English top flight again next season.
