English club Watford have confirmed that Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes will officially join them on July 1.

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed recently that the 33-year-old would be departing White Hart Lane next month after 135 appearances for the club and Gomes has been quick to arrange his future.

Yesterday the Brazilian stopper confirmed he had signed a contract with an ‘unnamed’ team by posting an Instagram image and he insisted his fans would learn of his future soon.

And Watford confirmed today that Gomes has agreed terms on a one-year deal and there is also an option for another 12 months should the move prove to be a success.

The move is somewhat surprising, however, as though the Brazilian has hardly featured in recent seasons, many may have expected him to return to his native Brazil.

Transferring to a Championship club, the division below the Premier League, will assure Gomes of first team football but his ability probably could have secured him a top flight move.

Although, after six years in London, the location most likely played a big part in deciding his future and the Brazilian will now be raring to go when he joins his new club on July 1.
