Last season’s Brazilian champions Cruzeiro maintained their bid to repeat a title triumph with a routine 2-0 hoe win against Sport Recife to lead the championship on goal difference after six games.

Second half goals from Marcelo Moreno and Ricardo Goulart sealed the win for the 2013 winners as previous pacesetters Internacional sluped to a second successive draw away at Coritiba.

Gremio also kept up pace at the top with a 2-1 win at home to Botafogo, Rodriguinho and Rodriguez bettering a solitary goal by Zeballos for the visitors.

And lowly Chapecoense, who prop up the table with two points, lost away at Criciuma for a fourth loss so far this term.

This evening’s fixtures see Palmeiras host Figueirense and Santos travel to high-flying Goias to complete the sixth round of Brasileirao matches.
