Brazil’s playmaker has said that the pleasure of playing at a World Cup outshines the everyday pressures of being an international figure in the sport.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Neymar admitted that he is aware that he is a role model and feels the sense of responsibility associated with that.

He said: “We suffer pressure in all of the things we do. It"s normal in life, but if you"re an athlete, this pressure is bigger because you are an example for many people. I [have suffered] pressure since I decided to become a player, but it"s a pleasure for me to play a World Cup in my country [for] my people."
