Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has been drumming into his team all season that they must follow the philosophy of taking the year one game at a time and it has certainly registered with at least one member of his squad.

Filipe Luís spoke to the media today ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid and the Brazilian insisted the final has only been discussed since the league season concluded on Saturday.

Football Espana quoted the defender, he said: "We follow the philosophy of the game-by-game.

"Champions League final was never mentioned until [Monday]. We’re living in the moment, the past is left behind and we’re only thinking on how to resolve Saturday’s fixture in the best possible way."

Filipe Luís went on to talk about how tough the weekend fixture will be and mentioned the versatility of Los Blancos.

He added: "They have a very large team and can change the system in each game. Their players can play in several positions, so it’s going to be tough."

Adding the Champions League to the La Liga title would certainly help Filipe Luís get over his World Cup snub with Brazil.
