Marcelo wants Real Madrid to seize Champions League opportunity this Saturday
Real Madrid defender Marcelo insists that the Spanish side are ready to win their tenth European crown on Saturday against city rivals Atletico after waiting over a decade for the chance to be the continent's top dogs again.
Not since 2002, when Zinedine Zidane scored the most memorable of goals to dfeat Bayer Leverkusen at Hampden Park in Glasgow, have Real played in a final, and Brazil's left-back wants to grab the opportunity.
He told Brazilian reporters: "We're focussed on winning a major trophy, we've been waiting for a long time."
"We have struggled for years and now finally we are in the final. We are one step closer to making history at Real Madrid and we will try to give our best to do it."
Portuguese Fabio Coentrao was actually preferred to Marcelo for the semi-final win over Bayern Munich, with the former recovering from minor injury; Marcelo would however be expected to start in Lisbon this weekend.
