Santos threw away the lead against Atletico Mineiro last night as their opponents staged a smash-and-grab raid to steal all three points in this Brasileirao encounter.

The game was played at the Rena Pantanal in Cuiaba as part of the preparations for the impending World Cup and Santos at first looked like they had settled well into new surroundings after midfielder Cicero gave them the lead after 38 minutes.

Their joy was short-lived, however, as Mineiro striker Andre bagged a late double to claim the victory; the 23 year-old used to be on the books at Santos as well as playing on loan there two seasons ago, as if to exacerbate the situation.

The result leaves Atletico and Santos in 1th and 12th place respectively in the Serie A table, already four points off leadrers Internacional after five league games.
