The Monaco striker has promised to be honest with himself and the national team before Colombia’s final World Cup squad is announced.

Marca quotes the player as saying that he will not be able to return to peak physical condition for the tournament.

Falcao said: “To get to 100 per cent football-wise will be impossible, because I lack hours of competitive football.”

“In order to resume, if I am feeling good, I will go. If I see that I am not sure, and I’m not going to contribute anything, I will be sensible and I will not go.

“I’m getting better every week. My knee has evolved well and I’m happy about that. My knee is fine.

“I work in a simple manner every day. I am getting used to coordination with the ball.”

Falcao suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in February but has been included in his country’s provisional squad.
