There may be dozens of pre-tournament friendlies in the coming weeks but Brazil’s opening match of the World Cup is currently the most eagerly-anticipated fixture in the football calendar.

The host nation takes on Croatia in São Paulo on June 12, ahead of matches against Mexico and Cameroon in Group A.

Croatia can call on top-flight talent from around Europe this summer, including solid Southampton centre-back Dejan Lovren, Real Madrid’s creative midfielder Luka Modric and the Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic.

The Seleção, however, are clear favourites in this game, as can be seen from these World Cup Brazil odds for the match against Croatia.
