Barcelona midfielder Xavi believes it is vital that Gerald Piqué, Jordi Alba and Neymar are fit for Saturday’s La Liga title decider against Atlético Madrid.

The Spanish maestro talked about the importance of the Brazilian playing at the weekend, especially considering Neymar is the only Barcelona player to have scored against Atlético this year.

In five matches, Barcelona have only scored twice, both through the Brazilian, and failed to win any game against Diego Simeone’s side.

Xavi therefore hopes everyone is fit for the Camp Nou showdown on Saturday, Globo quoted the 34-year-old.

“They are doing activities with the group and feeling good from their injuries, Xavi said.

“It will depend on how they feel. We have three days.

“We’re on Wednesday so we will see how they evolve but Neymar is a very important player for the team.”

Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari would also like to see his Brazilian superstar play on Saturday, despite some reports suggesting he wanted the 22-year-old to rest ahead of the World Cup.

Felipão said: “Not only do I want him to play, I want them to play like they are champions. This will boost morale, self-esteem, and the Brazilian national team can only gain.”
