Roy Hodgson names England squad
Liverpool´s 19-year-old forward Raheem Sterling and the 20-year-old Ross Barkley of Everton have both been named among the 23 players chosen to represent England in Brazil.
Southampton left-back Luke Shaw was picked ahead of veteran of three World Cups, Ashley Cole, who has now announced his retirement from international football.
The 18-year-old Shaw is joined in the squad by club teammates Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert.
Jordan Henderson has been selected following an impressive season playing alongside England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard. As a result, there was no place in the 23 for Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.
Goalkeepers: Hart, Foster, Forster.
Defenders: Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Jones, Smalling, Baines, Shaw.
Midfielders: Gerrard, Lampard, Wilshere, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner, Sterling, Lallana, Barkley.
Forwards: Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge, Lambert.
