Teenager Gabriel scored again for Santos as they defeated Figueirense 2-0 away from home to move up to 11th in the Serie A table and leave their opponents rock bottom and yet to muster a point after four games of the new campaign.

Santos manager Oswaldo de Oliveira Ribeiro decided to bench star signing Leandro Damiao for the game, a clear indication that the Brazil striker has yet to find his feet at the club, and replaced him with Thiago Ribeiro.

Gabriel headed home for the opener after 44 minutes, a cross from Emerson masking the fact that the youngster was clearly offside.

And it was midfielder Arouca who rounded off the win, finishing from the edge of the box with the aid of some suspect goalkeeping.

But it is Gabriel who is causing some of the Brazilian press to compare him with a predecessor already, the forward’s seven goals so far in 2014 placing him ahead of Selecao superstar Neymar at the same point in his early career.
