Julio César was heavily criticised for his performance against the Netherlands in the quarter finals of the World Cup in South Africa.

César partly accepts responsibility for the Seleçãos exit in 2010 but says that he does not carry the burden following his call up for the tournament in Brazil this summer.

“I think its natural to distrust me because I did not play for a long time and today I am in an unfashionable league," the current Toronto stopper told Globo.

“But I do not feel more pressure than at other times," he said.

“In 2010, I came to the World Cup as the best goalkeeper in the world, no one challenged my name. And even then [I conceded] a strange goal against Holland.

“You can trust me," said César.
