Thiago Silva has set Paris-Saint Germain the target of winning the Champions League next season after they secured another Ligue 1 title on Wednesday night.

Although the Paris club surprisingly lost 2-1 at home to Rennes, Monaco’s draw with Guingamp earned Silva and his team another title victory.

Goal.com quoted the Brazil captain after the game, he stated: “We’re not sad at losing, it was a tough game.

“We have played well in the last 10 months. We were not quite good at the end, but I’m very happy with this title.

“We have to continue like this next season. With the support of our fans, we will also try to win the Champions League.”

The current PSG manager Laurent Blanc has been linked with a move away from the club but Silva hopes the Frenchmen remains with the club.

He went on to add: “The group is very happy and I hope it remains

“If Laurent Blanc stay with us, I’ll be very happy. I hope he stays.”

It was a double celebration for Silva on Wednesday as he was confirmed in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s 23-man World Cup squad. The 29-year-old will now be dreaming of lifting silverware with Brazil in July.
