Napoli defender Henrique has revealed that he found out about his inclusion in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad through Brazilian television.
The 27-year-old’s selection was the main surprise in Felipão’s squad confirmation this afternoon and when speaking to Calcio Napoli 24, the former Palmeiras player revealed his joy.
Football Italia quoted Henrique, he said: “I’m feeling great joy. I found out at home by Brazilian television.
“I want to share the credit with Rafa Benitez, the club and the team.”
His team Napoli were quick to praise the January signing and commented from their official twitter account that the Brazilian deserved his call-up.
They tweeted: “For Henrique it is a deserved call-up for what he has done in this recent period. Credit to the club as well, who have believed in him.”
Henrique will hope to continue his successful end of season on Sunday when Napoli face Sampdoria in Serie A, the Brazilian is expected to start and he’ll aim to celebrate his call-up by helping his side pick up another three points.
