Seleção and PSG captain Thiago Silva admits even he is nervous ahead of Scolari’s World Cup squad announcement
Even the Seleção captain, Thiago Silva, has revealed he is nervous about being selected for Brazil’s World Cup squad despite his position being 100% assured.
Luiz Felipe Scolari announces his World Cup squad tomorrow at 3.30pm British time and Silva admits he isn’t the only one anxious about being selected.
The Paris-Saint Germain defender told Globo: "The nerves and anxiety are mixing. My head is spinning.
"We know that we have a good chance of being called up after what we did at the Confederations Cup, but that provides little comfort. It's very complicated. I can not sleep.
"I spoke to David Luiz and he said he feels the same and so does Maicon."
The PSG captain discussed one of the key qualities that Scolari looks for in his players.
"We need players who bring the ball out from the back. The modern game calls it," Silva said.
"We have Luiz Gustavo scoring and playing, Paulinho is almost a second striker.
“Teams that have big ambitions have to take risks. But a great profile of Scolari's teams is having offensive players who can also defend."
Silva is sure to be selected in Scolari’s squad tomorrow and find out who else is by checking Sambafoot.com after 3.30pm.
