Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho has held his hands up and admitted he made a “big mistake” in the weekend defeat to West Ham.

Spurs lost 2-0 to their London rivals and the decisive second goal came thanks to Stewart Downing.

Although the Englishmen’s shot was well struck, there was no way it should have found a way through Tottenham’s wall, the lack of bravery from Paulinho and Emmanuel Adebayor allowed the set piece effort to find the net.

The Brazilian midfielder admitted it was a tough game when he spoke to Spurs TV, he said: “It was difficult after losing Younes Kaboul.

“Also, for the second goal, we made a mistake, myself and Ade. We spoke in the dressing room and that was a big mistake. We know that.

“It was tough to create chances. We had the ball but when you only have 10 men it’s difficult. That’s football. We have to look forward and try to win the last game.”

Tottenham will try their upmost to finish the season successfully by defeating Aston Villa at White Hart Lane next Sunday.
